Bushkazi (bush ka zee): An ancient game of Afghanistan.
Think of it as Afghan football, only the football is a sheep or goat
(that's what the first rider on the right is holding). The idea of the
game is to get the animal and carry it to your goal. The other team
riders are free to do whatever is necessary to stop you, get the animal
and take it to their goal. A real game can last for days and can only
really be seen on horseback. There is a being, wonderful, perfect; It existed before heaven and earth. How quiet it is! How spiritual it is! It stands alone and does not change. It moves around, but does not on this account suffer. All life comes from it. It wraps everything with its love as in a garment, and yet it claims no honor, for it does not demand to be Lord. I do not know its name, and so I call it Tao, the Way, and rejoice in its power. Lao-tsu |
